About the property

Backstage Chalet is a five-bedroom home in a quiet residential part of central Zermatt. Architect Heinz Julen transformed a traditional Valais house with larch-clad upper floors, contemporary furniture and broad glazing looking over the village towards the Matterhorn. Five en-suite double bedrooms accommodate ten adults, with an additional mezzanine bed for a child available on request.

The upper living level brings the kitchen, dining room and lounge together beneath an open timber roof. A fireplace and balconies create a comfortable setting for shared meals and evenings at home. The lower floor has a TV lounge with a cinema projector, an office area and space that can be used as a children’s playroom.

The rooftop whirlpool is a distinctive feature: its hydraulic mechanism lifts it above the roof for an open-air mountain outlook. A sauna, hammam and fitness area complement the chalet’s wellness facilities, while guests also have access to the shared spa at Backstage Hotel. The chalet includes a lift, ski room with boot warmers and laundry facilities.

The displayed guide is for a catered stay for up to ten guests, including breakfast, afternoon tea, dinner on six nights and selected drinks. Breakfast-only and self-catered packages are quoted separately. Matterhorn Express is approximately nine minutes away on foot; confirm winter routes and arrival arrangements for your group.

Location & skiing

In a quiet residential district in central Zermatt. The current source allows approximately nine minutes on foot to Matterhorn Express and the Pendelbahn cable car, and around six minutes to the upper end of Bahnhofstrasse. Restaurants and pubs are within a few minutes on foot. Backstage Hotel and its shared spa are around nine minutes away. The pin shows an approximate chalet position; confirm winter routes and arrival instructions.

Winter 2026–27 advertised seven-night catered guide: CHF 36,000 – CHF 85,000 for up to ten guests. Breakfast, afternoon tea, dinner on six nights, selected wines, beer and soft drinks, a spirits bar, housekeeping and arrival/departure chalet transfers are included under the advertised package.
